Background Information

The Labour Campaign for Lesbian and Gay Rights (LGBT Labour) has been an active campaigning force since the mid-1970s, working for the adoption of pro-equality policies by the British Labour party, and to support the party at election times. Particularly active on such issues as opposition to Section 28, and pressing for the equalisation of the age of consent, the group also engaged in wider issues, for example launching the Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners campaign in the mid-1980s. Since 2002, the Campaign has been an affiliated group of the Labour party. Source: www.lgbtlabour.org.uk
