Background Information"The Confederation of Indian Organisations was established in 1975 prompted by the High Commissioner of India. The purpose was to "bring about a sense of unity amongst the various South Asian communities residing in the UK". As the organisation moved towards the Millennium it became a registered charity and then a company limited by guarantee. It also celebrated its silver jubilee in 2001. The Confederation of Indian Organisations (CIO) provides support services, advice and consultancy to South Asian Organisations. It provides a collective voice for groups via the promotion of research and information to address unmet needs particularly focusing around counselling, health advice, community development, regeneration, capacity building, education and training and collective representation at policy level. At micro level, groups are offered management support and assistance with infrastructure development including marketing, ICT, finance, fundraising, empowerment, capacity building and training."
