Background InformationThe Campaign for Labour Party Democracy is a left-wing pressure group within the British Labour party, seeking, amongst other things, greater accountability of the leadership to party members and stronger union links, and opposing Blairite reforms in the public services. The Campaign was formed as a non-Trotskyite grassroots movement, and saw a key triumph in 1979, when the annual conference adopted its proposals for the automatic reselection of sitting MPs.
