Background InformationThe Vietnam Action Group was a direct action protest group against the Vietnam War, and the refusal of the UK Government to oppose US policy. In one action, the group managed to disrupt a ticket-only church service at the opening of the 1966 Labour party conference, for which members Nicholas Walter and Jim Radford received jail sentences, under the obscure Ecclesiastical Courts Jurisdiction Act.
