Background InformationWomen Against the Common Market was an all-party eurosceptic pressure group, established and led by former Labour MP Ann Kerr. The body, which co-operated with other organisations, such as the Common Market Safeguards Campaign and Keep (later Get) Britain Out, survived Kerr's death in 1973, but became sidelined. In 1975 it was refused affiliation to the National Referendum Campaign (NRC), the umbrella body for the 'no' lobby in the 1975 referendum on British membership of the European Economic Community.
