Background Information

European Nuclear Disarmament (END) was a pacifist group dedicated to the opposition of nuclear weapons, operating in the second major wave of Cold War anti-nuclear activism, during the early to mid 1980s. It particularly sought to build links between opposition movements in central and easter Europe, and the peace movement in the West. Although the organisation no longer exists, it served as the ground from which the group European Dialogue emerged. The historian E. P. Thompson was one of the founders and leaders of the group.
