Estonian House,  18 Chepstow Villas, LONDON W11 2RB

Background Information

Established by the Association of Estonians in Great Britain, the Latvian National Council in Great Britain, and the Lithuanian Association in Great Britain, the Baltic Council seeks to advance the interests of the Baltic states, through lobbying and public education. The current aims of the Baltic Council are to enhance the image of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania in the United Kingdom by organising cultural and academic functions, such as an annual Baltic Council event, the June United Remembrance Service which commemorates the mass Deportations to Siberia on 14th June 1941 and all other victims of Communism and Nazism. The Baltic Council also engages in lobbying in the United Kingdom and European Union on issues of importance to the Baltic States and the British-Baltic communities. The Baltic Council's activities are funded by a modest annual fee from each parent national association and income from functions. Members are nominated by the national associations. The Chairmanship rotates annually in September-October among the three nationalities.
