Background InformationThe Equal Pay Campaign Committee (EPCC) emerged from the successful work during the Second World War to overturn the discriminatory measures of the 1941 Personal Injuries (Civilians) Scheme. Under the chairmanship of Mavis Tate MP, and under the wing of the National Association of Women Civil Servants, the EPCC's public campaigns successfully resulted in a Royal Commission on Equal Pay, with the subsequent implementation of equal pay in the civil service and teaching. Jill Craigie's 1951 film To Be A Woman was made in support of the EPCC. Source: www.aim25.ac.uk
