Background InformationThe Eighty Club was a group active within the British Liberal Party, promoting political education and organisation. The need for such an organisation faded through the twentieth century, with the increasing professionalisation of political parties, and the Club finally closed in the 1970s, although the name was then adopted as the title of the Association of Liberal Democrat Lawyers' annual lecture series.
